Saveur

First time having dinner out for this week cos work has been draining most of my energy to actually meet up with people for dinner.I've been telling myself that the maximum number of dinner meet-ups after work would just be two for every week, unless there are some other reasons. So yes,I met Liting and Zixiu for dinner at Saveur @ Purvis Street.I've been hearing about this restaurant some time ago and kept wanting to try it someday so finally I got to try it today.

While waiting for Liting,we decided to order a starter to share. It was kinda hard to decide. They even offer the basic bread and butter. But they have some other interesting starters that we thought of trying so we ended up ordering the duck rillette as per above. We totally have no idea what to expect cos the menu stated that it includes cracker slices, romaine lettuce, gherkin and pickles. The word 'gherkin' was kinda profound but we guessed it should contain duck meat which explains the dish title. What's duck rillette without duck meat right? So when the dish came,we were quite shocked. At first sight,we only saw yellow stuff in the jar.We were like 'where's the duck meat?'So the brave girl went to give it a try and that yellow substance was actually oil.The whole jar was frozen in the freezer and so the oil kinda settled above. The tuna-looking duck meat was actually below that layer of oil.So yeah it's cool to try new stuff I guess.I felt that if there were some condiments to this dish,it might have been better cos it feels a little dry.

For our main dish, all 3 of us ordered this chicken dish which is a roulade of chicken thigh stuffed with foie gras-infused chicken farce, creamy basmati rice & parmesan sauce. It was quite a small portion but super filling.I guess it was the creaminess of the rice that filled our tummies up.Im not exactly a fan of creamy rice/pasta so this dish was only alright to me.I might wanna go back again to try their duck leg confit.Their desserts sound kinda cool too from what I saw from the menu.

The bad point about this restaurant is that due to it's limited space,we were sitting quite close to the table beside us and it was extremely noisy! Most of the time we couldnt hear one another. It was tough raising our voices to hold a simple conversation. It was plain tiring. So after dinner we headed to Tang Shui Xian to have desserts and continue talking.Ordered a bowl of honeydew sago and mango shaved ice,but sadly we were given snow ice.I felt that both were merely alright. Not as good as what I expected. But it was definitely easier to talk this time round.

YAY TGIF TOMORROW!!!

Dinner with my dear boy tomorrow wheeeeee!!!
